Your Role:

As a Senior Category Manager - Space Planning, you will lead the management and coordination of Space Planning efforts within the Category Advisory teams for Walmart and Sam’s. We embrace and accept individual experiences and backgrounds to achieve a diverse and inclusive workplace.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Establish strong working relationships with Wal-Mart and Sam’s Modular teams to streamline the modular relay process across categories.
  • Manage all activities involved in the Modular relay process for the assigned categories and customers; including but not limited to trait assignments, technical specifications, data prep, compliance validations, modular submissions, DC matrices, and post audits.
  • Accountable for optimized planograms aligning with Customer strategies and product/sales analysis. Responsible for validating fixtures and floorplans to ensure data integrity and optimization of shelf sets.
  • Lead the relationship between cross-functional teams to implement and support the strategic vision of the buying teams, ensuring that the space planning team understands and follows the vision.
  • Implement process improvements via integration of new tools and available metrics at store level to ensure the shelf assortments meet shopper needs through all fulfillment options.
  • Communicate progress, risks, timelines, and other key project metrics to appropriate Category Advisor, Modular Planning, and Buying teams. Implement review processes and accuracy procedures to minimize delays across projects and ensure successful execution of relays.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with team members to ensure consistency of modular execution, sharing of best practices, and developing knowledge of space planning tools and practices.
  • Oversee team’s preparation of space management client-deliverables to support category modular reviews, including charts, graphs, velocity reports, financial metrics, and planogram layouts.

We need you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Merchandising, Data Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years of related professional experience within Space Management, Category Management, Merchandising Assortment, and/or Merchandise Planning in a CPG company or brokerage firm.
  • Advanced knowledge in Walmart’s CKB system, JDA Space Planning, and all MS Office applications.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% to support applicable retailers.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.

Icing on the cake:

  • Prior experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods Industry.
