Your Role:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be a key contributor to Capital Projects, Project Management, and the implementation of both strategic and tactical projects related to the safety and overall OEE of both the Louisville, KY and the Hot Springs, AR facilities. The position reports directly to the Director of Technology. We embrace and accept individual experiences and backgrounds to achieve a diverse and inclusive workplace.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive and promote our safety culture within the sites including contractors, suppliers, and visitors.
  • Consult with Senior Director of Operations, Director of Technology, and process stakeholders to identify deficiencies or obsolescence that could impact sustainability and growth.
  • Mechanically scope, design, engineer, or modify equipment that improves safety, quality, cost, or delivery.
  • Manage capital projects utilizing project management life cycle.
  • Create capital acquisition requests, project scopes of work, RFQs, process functional specifications, project and life cycle cost estimates, project justifications, and manage purchase order requisitions and spending for projects.
  • Work with outside vendors and suppliers to ensure that new equipment upgrades meet necessary performance, design, and safety specifications.
  • Supply the necessary technical data, drawings, etc. to keep projects moving efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate and/or facilitate maintainability and design reviews with key stakeholders and end users.
  • Review and approve engineering technical documents, as applicable.
  • Perform factory and site acceptance testing for new equipment.
  • Support the safe commissioning and startup of new projects and/or equipment modifications and upgrades.
  • Ensure that proper training and turnover packages are provided to the plant support functions maintaining a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and meeting all specifications.
  • Drive projects to completion while maintaining timeline, budget, and project objectives.

We need you to have:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional and progressive engineering experience in a heavy industry, manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of progressive project management.
  • MS Office, AutoCAD, process data analytics software.
  • Demonstrated high level competencies of engineering concepts, process control, fluid power, and good engineering practices.
  • Heavy industrial equipment experience.
  • Knowledge and application of industry-relevant NFPA, ASME, ANSI, and other applicable codes.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-20% of the time.

Icing on the cake:

  • Master’s degree.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience in the cold rolling, annealing, casting, melting, and general process of flat rolled metal products.
