We are searching for a Regulatory Specialist (Temporary) to join our team located at our headquarters in Lake Forest, IL.

Your Role:

The Regulatory Specialist will support the Regulatory Department with implementing and maintaining processes and procedures intended to ensure Reynolds’ products are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role will involve tracking and analyzing federal, state, and local legislation, assessing the implications of such legislation for Reynolds’ business and products, and collaborating with members of the Regulatory Department and internal business leaders to develop strategies for maintaining compliance. The ideal candidate seeks to develop an expertise in advising a consumer products company on maintaining compliance with multi-layered systems of regulation while facilitating continued growth and innovation. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Research, review, and analyze federal, state, and local legislation, laws, and regulations pertinent to Reynolds’ business and products.
  • Maintain the internal regulatory compliance database.
  • Prepare educational materials and presentations to guide internal business leaders on key regulatory matters, including rapidly evolving legislation, and regulation of consumer-packaged goods and the environment.
  • Assist the Senior Regulatory Counsel and Senior Regulatory Manager with developing strategies and implementing systems designed to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders regarding regulatory and legislative affairs, including by providing feedback on proposed regulations.
  • Review and analyze regulatory compliance documentation and submissions to federal agencies, including the FDA.
  • Assist Reynolds’ legal counsel with analyzing and substantiating marketing and advertising claims.

We need you to have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years’ experience working in regulatory compliance or regulatory affairs for a consumer products, food, beverage, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical company, or in a highly regulated industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Effective time-management, including the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Fundamental understanding of the legislative process.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze laws, regulations, and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the business.

Icing on the cake:

  • BA/BS in chemistry, biology, or a technical science.
  • Paper and/or plastics industry experience.
  • Regulatory agency experience – particularly FDA, EPA, or analogous state, county, or local government agency.
  • Political affairs experience.
