Then we have an opportunity for you! We currently have an opportunity for an IT Architect - VMware to join our team at the data center office in Lincolnshire, IL.

Your Role:

As an IT Architect - VMware you will work with the corporate Platform Engineering Team to design, deploy and support technologies in the VMware and Windows Server verticals. This role requires a deep and thorough understanding of the design and management of VMware and Windows Server solutions running on HPE blades and rack mounted servers. 

Key responsibilities include establishing and documenting design standards that align with business initiatives across both the virtual and physical server landscape.  As a member of the engineering team, the individual will participate in both technical research and development to facilitate continuing innovation within the infrastructure, and be able to document and implement these new solutions. 

The candidate should be well versed in the configuration, support and backup strategies of VMware.  The individual will be required to perform scheduled after hours support and assist with Level 2 escalations as part of a rotation.

This role also requires deep Windows Server expertise with the ability to manage and support local and remote servers via command line tools.  In addition, be able to work with application teams on complex configurations by leveraging event and log files to assist with implementations or issues.

We need you to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with a broad range of enterprise-class technology solutions
  • Broad experience designing and supporting IT infrastructure, with heavy emphasis on:
    • VMware Horizon View
    • VMware Fusion
    • VMware vCenter, vSphere, and vSAN
      • Design through management and support
      • Networking through Distributed vSwitches
      • Upgrades and installation methodology for local and remote hosts
      • Deep troubleshooting skills from a VMware and virtual machine standpoint
      • Storage provisioning
      • Monitoring and Performance evaluation
    • Advanced PowerShell scripting and CLI
      • Process Automation
      • Inventory Management
      • Ad Hoc requests
      • Automation of VMware Tools upgrades
    • VMware backup technologies
      • Veeam Backup and Recovery
      • Exagrid Storage Appliances
      • EMC Avamar
    • HA and Disaster Recovery technologies
      • vMotion/svMotion
      • SRM
      • HA and DRS
    • HPE hardware
      • ProLiant DL360, DL380, and BL460 servers
      • C7000 Chassis management
      • Firmware update processes across all hardware platforms
      • Hardware installation and troubleshooting
    • Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019 Operating Systems
      • OS Management through GPO, scripts, and command line
      • Understanding of common network services
