We are searching for  an Innovation Engineer to join our marketing and engineering team located at our headquarters in Lake Forest, IL. 

Responsibilities for the Innovation Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifies and manages internal and external resources to develop new products, technologies, and processes for Reynolds brand.
  • Provides technical leadership to team problem solving, identifying new project opportunities and guiding the development of the initiatives through engineering, research and prototyping.
  • Manages technical resources for projects from ideation through commercialization with minimal direction and works closely with broader cross functional team throughout the stage gate process.
  • Makes presentations (verbal and written) to technical, manufacturing, and business leadership to sell ideas, propose new projects, and report on projects.
  • Serves as technical interface with marketing/innovation team; helps translate consumer insights into technical and design parameters.
  • Develops and manages capital projects as appropriate.
  • Develops, writes, implements, and submits and/or presents various technical reports to support new product manufacturing technology.
  • Works directly with manufacturing plants to ensure successful start-up and sustainability on new product technology.
  • Provides technical support for newly developed products and for optimization of existing products.
  • Utilizes strong project management skills and project plans to set team priorities, deliver on project milestones, prepare for contingencies and find solutions to technical barriers and obstacles.
  • Leads successful execution and documentation of internal and consumer trials.
  • Supports product claims and protects intellectual property through collaboration with legal, substantiation through technical testing and research reports.
  • Develops prototypes ranging from mock-ups through functional and aesthetic models. 
  • Develops technical cost models and product specifications.
  • Keeps abreast of evolving technologies that impact our business and communicate the implications to the business lead team and across functional teams.

 

We need you to have:

  • BS or MS required in Engineering with emphasis in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials
  • 5+ years’ experience in product development working with cross functional team developing and commercializing new products within a CPG company
  • Experience working with focus groups and consumer studies 
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on new product development efforts
  • Strong computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project

Icing on the cake:

  • MBA or Advanced Degree
