Your Role:

The Senior Category Specialist will support the development and execution of sourcing strategies for indirect procurement categories while maintaining continuity of supply at the lowest total cost of ownership. The right candidate will be an effective communicator with a problem solving and solutions-based mindset.  This role will enable data transparency, suggest process improvements and strengthen relationships with internal and external business partners. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Support strategies for indirect procurement categories.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and execute upon them by effectively collaborating with Category Managers, key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive compliance to the preferred supplier network. Identify leakage and champion solutions to properly transition the spend.
  • Track and analyze supplier key performance indicators against contractual commitments. Use critical thought to review effectiveness of root cause and corrective actions.
  • Create and present financial business cases to leadership to ensure alignment on strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Assess and mitigate category risks and engage proper internal stakeholders and external resources to optimize solutions and improvements.
  • Identify cost savings, cost avoidance and improvement opportunities and support cross-functional teams through project realization.
  • Assess spend analytics, develop bids that encompass total cost of ownership, and assist with contract negotiations.  At times, redline and implement agreements with legal collaboration.
  • Regularly monitor and analyze the market, competitive intelligence, and pricing trends. Report market data to Category Managers and use intel to enable strategic category decisions. 
  • Support cross-functional change management initiatives that support the category strategy.

We need you to have:

  • BA/BS Degree required.
  • 5+ years of professional job-related experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to implement change and/or cost savings initiatives across a large, complex supplier and plant network.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, under pressure, and a drive for results.
  • Demonstrated expertise in procurement, supplier relationship management, commercial negotiations, and the strategic sourcing process.
  • Strong written comprehension skills with knowledge of commercial and legal contractual terms and conditions. 
  • Project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Proficient in influencing business decisions leveraging data and analytics.
  • Strong level of intellectual curiosity, analytical skills as well as organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Must be team-oriented with the ability to work in highly collaborative performing team environment.
  • Experience using SAP and Ariba.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 15%.
