Then we have an opportunity for you!  We are searching for a Senior Category Manager to join our team in Lake Forest, IL.

Your Role:

As a Senior Category Manager, you will be responsible for creating shopper insight driven category management solutions, developing strategy, and performing business analysis.  In this key role, you will be responsible for using your expertise to determine the best financial system administration solutions for business issues.  You will have the opportunity to:

  • Advanced Category Management leadership for multiple categories, across multiple retail partners and operating at the Category Advisor level in at least one category including access to internal sales data for the total category.
  • Analyze category trends and shopper insights as well as brand level performance, utilizing POS, syndicated, panel, loyalty card data.
  • Acts as the category and competition subject matter expert for interfacing with internal headquarters business groups and provides fact based selling support for sales management.
  • Establish strong working relationships with retailer category managers, providing“category focused” analytical support as needed.
  • Provide retailer category management and internal management with weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting according to their needs.
  • Actively involved in utilization of space management technologies by working with retailer category managers to develop optimum assortments and planograms for our categories.
  • Responsible for understanding Shopper Insights and applying those shopper insights to category/ brand sales presentation providing thought and category leadership.
  • Able to provide training to sales and CM team members on all levels of category management topics including consumer dynamic data, syndicated data, market structure data and shopper insights data.
  • Some travel is required 20 – 30%
  • Remote work is available for certain approved states across the United States, requires a reasonable commute to a metropolitan airport.

We need you to have:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of related professional category management and shopper insights experience within a CPG company.
  • Extensive experience with category management processes, systems, internal protocols, etc. 
  • Proficient in gathering, compiling and analyzing “data” which results in delivering actionable insights and “story telling.”
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Ability for overnight travel on a periodic basis. (20-30%)
  • Excellent capabilities in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint

Icing on the cake:

  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Proficient in the use of system software such as planogram (Apollo, Prospace or Spaceman), syndicated data supplier tools such as IRI, Nielsen’s AOD, Spectra, Homescan, etc. as well as Richmix Assortment tool.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams
