Your Role:

The R&D Engineer will report to the R&D Technical Manager in the Presto Business Unit.  This role will coordinate all aspects of research and product development projects as needed to successfully complete major projects within time and budget constraints using independent action and personal judgment. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Support driving new sustainable product development across all of Presto’s product families, including waste bags, storage bags, plastic wrap, and disposable containers
  • Collaborate with team on new product and process development project work to meet Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality initiatives
  • Provide engineering direction and support to plant facilities operations during new product/process scale-up, including capital projects
  • Assist with setup, implementation, and data analyses of statistically designed experiments and process controls, including, but not limited to hands-on lab analysis, equipment set-up, and trial work
  • Develop communications with suppliers for the purpose of researching primarily materials or new equipment for process improvements
  • Interface and work side-by-side with Corporate and Plant technical and production team members to evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements and new developments in a timely manner

We need you to have:

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred), required
  • 5+ years of applicable experience, preferred
  • High degree of creativity, ability to work independently, and with a team
  • Basic understanding of 3D drawing software, solid modeling, or Flow Simulation software preferred
  • Basic understanding of statistical techniques and methods (DOE, SPC, etc)
  • Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques and methods
  • ~10% travel to other Presto locations for new product/process trials & scale-up
  • Ability to lift 40 lb

Icing on the cake:

  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Polymer extrusion and conversion experience 
  • Familiarity with physical and analytical test methods for polymer films and resin
