Are you looking to build a strong career? Then we have an opportunity for you!  We currently have an opportunity for a Capacity Planner located at our location in Lake Forest Illinois Headquarters.

Your Role:

As a Transportation Capacity Planner you will be responsible for the continual analysis and successful execution of the transportation routing guide, carrier relations and operational continuous improvement.  

The primary focus is service execution with a budget oriented mindset.  

•    Identify gaps in current transportation routing guide plan via service, cost, network analysis. Thoroughly understand root cause via operational feedback and observation.
•    Collaborate with materials, supply, demand planning teams to better utilize forecasts and outside input with regard to transportation needs. Proactively communicate with transportation procurement and relevant carriers to ensure plans are in place prior to need.
•    Monitor carrier award compliance and understand drivers for failure.
•    Identify, initiate, and lead initiatives with peers and leaders to mitigate unplanned costs and service impacts.
•    Host daily and weekly carrier communication engagement, including routine carrier scorecarding calls.

Collectively understand needs and opportunities for various parties.  Identify root cause failures with data and facts at hand; opportunities for improvement internally and externally.

Engage relevant peers and managers and provide choice and suggestions for resolution.
•    Carrier Service Provider management. This role will provide ongoing support for the development and improvement of carrier scorecard.  
•    Occasionally provide support for vacation coverage for the transportation operations planning team.
•    Identify opportunities internally and with external customer and third-party stakeholders to improve transportation chain towards best-in-class.

We need you to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Analytics, Accounting, is required.
  • Prior experience in U.S. domestic transportation (shipper or carrier), is required.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency level advanced to expert, is required.
  • Prior experience with Access Database, Tableau, PowerBI, are preferred.
  • Prior experience with supply chain procurement is preferred.

Icing on the cake:

  • Multiple TMS, WMS, order management experience is preferred. SAP, JDA a plus
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment
  • Business writing, formal presentation skills and experience, project management, sales experience are all a plus.
  • Operational, budget-oriented, and customer service mindset a plus
