We are searching for an entry level packaging engineer to join our Visual Branding team based in Lake Forest, IL.

Your Role:

As an Associate Packaging Engineer you will be responsible for influencing the business through your ideas, research, and development of new packaging and packaging efficiencies. You will have the opportunity to:

  • PACKAGE DEVELOPMENT – Work collaboratively in development of new product ideas, packaging materials, package testing, and execution of design.
    • Develop and analyze packaging options with internal teams and external suppliers
    • Identify most cost-effective options while maintaining package integrity
    • Prepare and maintain packaging specifications
  • MANAGE MULTIPLE PROJECTS – Own and manage projects for both primary packaging and displays.  See through to commercialization.
    • Meet regularly with marketing and visual branding groups on new projects
    • Maintain relationship with packaging and testing vendors through package development life-cycle.
  • IDENTIFY AND EXECUTE EFFICIENCIES AND COST SAVINGS OPPORTUNITIES – work through resource availability, external constraints, and shared functional or operational resources to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Travel to plant or vendor locations in performance of duties. Travel is project dependent and ranges from 10% to 15%.
  • Have the desire to learn and improve through training both inside and outside the company as part of your personal development plan.

Ultimately, you will collaborate with engineering, operations, marketing, and the business team to deliver results that can be seen at all major retail stores.

We need you to have:

  • BS degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of consumer packaged goods engineering/development experience
  • Experience developing and testing point-of-purchase
  • Prior experience working on cost savings projects
  • Excellent capabilities in Microsoft Office

Icing on the cake:

  • Experience in project management
  • Experience with folding cartons, corrugated, printed film materials, machine automation, and typical warehouse processes
